CUPE Local 960 represents the 65+ employees of Oshawa Public Libraries. We are librarians, clerks, delivery staff, maintenance workers, graphic designers, supervisors, library technicians, corporate service clerks, and more. We are compassionate advocates. We are thoughtful negotiators. We are active in our local community and engaged in the broader community.
As part of CUPE, we stand shoulder-to-shoulder with more than half a million public sector workers across the country. We are also affiliated with the Durham Northumberland CUPE District Council, Durham Labour Council, and the Ontario Federation of Labour.
CUPE was formed in 1963 by merging the National Union of Public Employees and the National Union of Public Service Employees. It has grown to become Canada's largest union, providing a strong voice in support of workers' rights, equality and top quality public services.
The last contract between the Oshawa Public Libraries Board and CUPE Local 960 expired March 31st, 2020.
