There are some great events organized throughout Ontario for Labour Day! In Durham Region, there is an awesome BBQ planned in Oshawa's Memorial Park on September 2. Click here for more details.


Brantford & District

Monday, September 2nd – Soap Box Derby starts the day off at Iccom Drive and Lorne Bridge 8am - 12pm.  Followed by a Solidarity march departing from the Labour Centre ending with free admission to Earl Haig Fun Park for a Family Fun Day.  Activities include: Lazy river, waster slides, mini golf batting cages and children's water play area. Chatham-Kent

Monday, September 2nd – 11am - 3pm
Activities include: BBQ, entertainment and fun activities for the kids.
Chatham Banquet Hall, 280 Merritt Ave. (Click for flyer)

Durham/Oshawa

Monday, Sept 2nd – 11am - 3pm
Free BBQ at Memorial Park in Oshawa - Corner of Simcoe St. & John St.
Activities include: Live music, face painting, radio-controlled cars and track; hot dogs, hamburgers and pop. (Click for flyer)


Hamilton

Monday, September 2nd  – 10:30am - Parade starting at York Blvd, west of  Queen St. Picnic to follow at Dundurn Park
Activities include: Dancers, magician, face painting; BBQ at a low cost with proceeds going to the United Way. (Click for flyer)

Kenora

Monday, September 2nd – 11am-2pm
Picnic at Beatty Park in Keewatin
Activities include: BBQ, guest speakers, games (including the minnow race)


Kingston

Monday, September 2nd – 10am - Parade and picnic at Skeleton Park.  Parade to City Hall and fun events at Skeleton Park.  Activities include: Free BBQ and fun activities including a bouncy castle, face painting, 3 bands – fun for all ages.  Donations accepted to United Way.     

Peel

Sunday, August 31st – 12pm - 2pm at Eldorado Park, 8520 Creditview Rd., Brampton.
Activities include: Entertainment and amusement for all ages. (Click for flyer)

London

Monday, September 2nd – 12pm - 4pm
Activities include: Picnic at Thames Park (off Ridout just south of Horton St.)

North Bay

Monday September 2nd – 11:00am - 4pm at North Bay Waterfront
Activities include: Parade of flags, family fun day & BBQ. (Click for flyer)

Ottawa

Monday September 2nd – 12pm - 4:30pm
Activities include: Parade starting at City Hall, marching to McNabb Park for BBQ & family fun day. (Click for flyer)

Peterborough

Monday September 2nd – 11:30am-2:30pm
Picnic at Nicholl's Oval Park Pavilion, corner of Parkhill Rd. East and
Armour Rd.
Activities include: BBQ, Music & Kids Games. 


Sault Ste. Marie

Monday September 2nd – 11:20am - 4pm
Family fun day starting at Roberta Bondar Pavilion
Activities include:  BBQ, carnival and games, face painting and motorcycle show. (Click for flyer)


Sudbury

Monday, September 2nd – 10am - 4pm at the Bell Park on Paris Street.  Activities include: Free BBQ, music, bouncy castle and more. 

Toronto & York Region

Monday, September 2nd – Parade starts at 9am on west side of University Ave., south of Dundas St.  March to near the CNE grounds. Participants get free access to CNE. (Click for flyer)

Windsor

Monday, September 2nd –Parade departs 10am from CAW Local 200/444 Hall, march to the Fogolar Furlan Club.
Activities include:  Free BBQ, Children's Village, Entertainment, Air bounce. (Click for flyer)

Thanks to everyone who helped out with and attended the Library Appreciation Barbecue. We had a great time with excellent food and a special thank you goes out to Mr. Brennan, our Recording Secretary's father who was our grill-master extraordinaire! The library is hugely important to the community and all CUPE 960 members do a great job to provide the best customer service both internally and externally.
